Hello Alexa, this is a letter to you because I find myself very proud that you represent my country in these Olympics. Not only did you arrive as an athlete to the 2016 Olympics in Rio, you also arrived as a representative for many of us who do not meet the standards that many people expect our bodies to meet when we dedicate ourselves to that which impassions us, that which we do in an excellent manner.
Alexa Moreno you are beautiful and admirable
You came to open a huge debate about body shaming. Before anything else, let me make it clear that that bunch of #$$%#$% who criticized you are nothing more than a string of envious people who have achieved nothing in life and it seems easy to them to undermine the efforts of others. In my experience, as a public figure I can tell you that my biggest critics are people who would like to be where I am standing and they cannot get it in their heads why a person like me can be successful because I do not fit their demands and beauty standards. Today I would like to tell you that you are beautiful and admirable.
I have always admired gymnastics – the somersaults they do, the strength and dedication – I was never even capable of doing a cartwheel as a child and I think that it is something I should have on my bucket list to accomplish someday. I admire you as an athlete and as a woman because I know you have had to sacrifice your childhood and adolescence for the dream of standing there at the Olympics. You have sacrificed trips to the movies, field days with the family and holidays. Those muscle cramps hurt you and so did the demands of your trainers, but all that effort was worth it and you gave us the opportunity to see you play a grand role in the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Let it be very clear in your mind that you got to Rio because of your hard work and thank your critics. Thanks to them, today your picture and your name have resonated in your defense throughout the ENTIRE WORLD. If a river sounds, it is because it carries water, and girl let me tell you, you are not carrying water, but a hurricane along with you and I know that soon we will hear greater thing about you and your achievements. Keep going with that dedication and love for what you do for you are an example for many of us. And to all those body-shaming haters who dare to criticize someone because their beauty standards do not coincide with what they see, let them enjoy their worship of the “perfect” body on earth because they are so empty inside that they will probably have a very poor eternity.
How could anyone body shame #AlexaMoreno & feel good about themselves ? It baffles me! This is incredible https://t.co/FZ0oIJNsBj #Rio2016
