Easy and Fun Bowser Shell Cupcakes

Welcome to our kitchen where we’re baking up a storm! Today, we’re making Bowser Cupcakes inspired by the Super Mario Bros movie. These cupcakes are perfect for a Super Mario Bros-themed Party. Who needs cake when you can have a great variety of cupcakes? All Mario game fans, especially those who love the classic villain, Bowser will love it!

We had the opportunity to visit the Super Nintendo World in Universal Studios Hollywood during the opening and my boys just went crazy about it! Of course, my youngest one wants his 5-year-old birthday party to be Super Mario Bros movie themed so here are some great food ideas for a Mario Brothers party!

I will have to confess that I used a chocolate cake mix to make the cupcakes! I work full time and sometimes desserts are not my priority to cook from scratch. You can even get some already-made cupcakes at the supermarket and have your children decorate them.

Green and Yellow Frosting for Bowsers shell cupcakes

I bought cream cheese frosting and added some food coloring to achieve the colors I wanted for my cupcakes. I made a list of all you need to get it delivered straight to your home! click here.

Divide the frosting into two different bowls. Make sure you use more frosting on the bowl you are coloring green color as you will use more of this to cover all the cupcakes tops.
Add to one bowl 4 drops of green food coloring mix and keep adding more color until you achieve the desired look.
In the other bowl add 3 drops of yellow food coloring to the frosting, mix, and keep adding food coloring until achieving the desired color.
Make the cupcakes and let them cold down.
Once the cupcakes are cooled, we’re ready to decorate!

How to make Bowser Cupcakes Decoration

We use green frosting for the base, representing Bowser’s tough exterior. Spread the green frosting all over the cupcake top.

Now add a layer of yellow frosting on the edge of the cupcake to represent Bowser’s shell. For the shell edge, I used the round piping tip.

Now with the same yellow frosting let’s make Bowser’s spikes! Press the piping tip into the cupcake, then lift outward for a spiked look. For this, I used the round piping tip.
