It’s always a great way to begin any dietary changes by taking some time to detox just before getting started. With this One Day Detox, you’ll not only give your metabolism a boost, it’s also an easy way to jumpstart your new healthy habits. Now you won’t have any more excuses for not eating healthy. We’ll begin by integrating fiber into our diet so we’re right back on track, and, with these options I’ve put together, you’ll feel lighter, happier and satisfied.

Portions: 1 reloj Preparation time: 15  minutes

Have you already attempted to start eating well and instead ended up eating all the holiday leftovers? Don’t worry because to a certain extent this is quite normal. Your body has been used to eating more sugar and carbs than usual so it will want more of the same, especially when you try to take them away.

However, do not stress! With these delicious options you’ll find yourself satisfied and without anxiety. Today I’m sharing a day’s worth of detox options that will help improve your digestion as well as strengthen your bones and immune system.

Let’s get the morning started with a delicious smoothie full of apples, oatmeal, prunes and almond milk.

The oatmeal will help keep you satisfied longer, as well as being a great way to lower cholesterol. The apple will help purify your system and our star ingredient, prunes, will help with digestion.  Better digestion means less bloating which is a great way to start the day.

In my house there is never a lack of Sunsweet prunes. These are ideal if you’re craving a sweet snack or if you add want to add sweetness to a recipe. One serving of prunes has 3 grams of fiber, and fiber can help keep you satisfied longer between meals. Compared to other dried fruits, prunes are lower in sugar and have a low glycemic index of only 29. This means they are digested and absorbed slowly by the body, which helps to sustain energy over a longer period of time compared to foods with a higher glycemic index. Amaz!n ™ prunes are a delicious way to help keep your body in balance.

This smoothie will definitely keep you satisfied for a long time and aid you in keeping your digestive system moving from the first meal of the day.

    These are the portions…

    BREAKFAST

    Women
    3 Amaz !n Sunsweet Prunes
    1/2 apple
    1 cup of almond milk
    1/2 cup of water
    3 tbsp oatmeal

    Men
    3 Amaz !n Sunsweet Prunes
    1/2 apple
    1 cup of almond milk
    1/2 cup of water
    6 tbsp oatmeal
Tip: Add a little ice to make it a super refreshing drink!

     Directions:

To the blender add the prunes, apples, oats, milk and water. Mix until you see that everything has blended together, then serve.

Tip: Men need larger portions of food than women, and they burn more calories than women during their daily activities, because they have more muscle than fat in proportion to the female body.

You will see that by eating healthy you will feel much better physically and spiritually!

You can use this smoothie to replace your breakfast since it is a very complete food. And if you begin to feel some hunger mid-morning you can try any of these delicious snack options. But remember, if you are looking to lose weight it is important to respect portion size.

    Snack

    ?7 almonds and 5-6 prunes

Did you know that 2 out of 3 women and 1 in every 5 men over 50 years of age are affected by osteoporosis? Correctly choosing what we eat can have a positive impact in the short run as well as benefit us for a long life! Healthy bones begin with a good diet and it’s very easy to do by simply adding prunes to your daily meal. Studies indicate that eating between 5 and 6 prunes per day (a little over a serving) may help prevent bone loss. Exercise can also enhance the benefits of bone healthy nutrition.

    LUNCH

For lunchtime, let’s prepare a delicious salad which includes grilled chicken, thinly sliced red onion, avocado and cucumber. For the dressing mix 1 tbsp of apple cider vinegar or white vinegar with 1 tsp of olive oil and 2 tbsp of Sunsweet® Amaz!n ™ Prune Juice.

    Women

90 gr or 3.17 oz grilled chicken (seasoned with salt and pepper)
    2 cups of lettuce
    2 slices of red onion
    1/4 avocado
1/2 cup of cucumber cut into squares
1 tbsp vinegar or white vinegar
    1 tsp olive oil
2 tbsp of Sunsweet Amaz!n Prune Juice

    Men
120 gr or 4.23 oz grilled chicken
    2 cups of lettuce
    2 slices of red onion
    1/4 avocado
1/2 cup of cucumber cut into squares
1 tbsp vinegar or white vinegar
    1 tsp olive oil
2 tbsp of Sunsweet Amaz!n Prune Juice

Directions: To prepare the dressing, mix the vinegar, olive oil and prune juice. Add salt and pepper to taste and mix.

If you feel hungry by mid-afternoon you can have a r 1 cup of Sunsweet Amaz!n Prune Juice and 7 almonds.

For dinner we’ll prepare natural yogurt with fruit and nuts and you’ll see just how delicious it is. The best part is you’ll go to bed feeling light, healthy and ready to take on the next day with your new healthy eating. I can’t even begin to tell you the changes you’ll feel through the day with this digestion detox.

    DINNER

    1 cup of natural yogurt
7 almonds or 3 walnut halves
1/2 banana, apple, papaya or the fruit of your choice
    3 prunes

Mix the almonds or walnuts with the sliced fruit of your choice and the prunes and layer up in a bowl with yogurt. .

After experiencing this delicious day of this delicious day of eating fiber-filled foods, dare yourself to add prunes to smoothies and other meals. When my child sees a prune, he always says he wants ‘that candy’ because he identifies them as a sweet option since we got him started on them when he turned one year old. Prunes are a perfect snack for children and adults, and they’re easy to carry because they don’t need refrigeration or much space.

Prunes and dates can be used as snacks, added to salads and even to create irresistible desserts. If that wasn’t enough, they are so good for you! Prunes contain natural elements that help raise the flavor of other foods and can serve as a substitute for fats and sugars. They help reduce calories and add flavor to meats, desserts and marinades. Soon I will be sharing more ideas on how to use them.

If you know someone who has bone issues (almost all Hispanic grannies) give them this valuable information. Remember, consuming between 5 and 6 prunes daily helps you maintain bone healthy nutrition.
