The mother of one of my best friends always prepared Chili Beans for her children’s birthday parties, the reason? Chili is the delicious way to prepare a super profitable, economic, nutritious and delicious dish. I prepare Chili con carne at least every two weeks. My children love it.

Get ready to make a giant pot of this chili beans with ground meat recipe. This is the perfect meal to eat again next day or freeze it to eat it next week… if there is something left.

    HOMEMADE CHILI WITH BEANS

The truth is that this recipe is not Mexican. It is one of those spectacular Tex-Mex meals. They say that the origin of Chili goes back to San Antonio, Texas. Mexicans that became Americans when USA took over a big part of Mexico started to create their own culinary art.

The original Tex-Mex recipe is prepared with paprika to give it the red color and flavor. Some people add some kind of sauce to it but I like to prepare it with guajillo chili. The guajillo chiles take the chili beans to another level.

    1. Let the meat finish cooking with the guajillo broth and add ¾ cup of chopped tomato.

HOW DO I COOK BEANS FOR CHILI

Beans are cooked separately. It is very easy to prepare beans in a pot or as we call them in Mexico, frijoles de la olla. In a saucepan, place 4 cups of beans with double the water of their volume and soak for at least half an hour. This will help you cook much faster and use less gas. Then rinse the water from the beans. Put the beans back in the pot along with 12 cups of water, 2 garlic cloves, ¼ of an onion and 1 tablespoon of salt. Bring to a boil over high heat and when they boil cover and set the heat low for about 1 hour.

    Chili and meat

The truth is that I always cook the beans in the Instant Pot and they are ready in less time. Take advantage if you have a pressure cooker or instant Pot prepare them there.

Thanks for sharing this recipe but the third sentence in step number four doesn’t sound grammatically correct. Read it out loud and see what I mean.
